Since the earliest days of her artistic career, Michigan artist Anne Mondro has been captivated by human anatomy, creating her own interpretations of internal organs and body forms through crocheted sculptures. Working with thin steel and copper wire, she spends hundreds of hours on a single artwork, manifesting her own interpretations of hearts, lungs, limbs, and even entire bodies. “Crocheting wire enables me to create interwoven forms that are structurally strong, yet visually and physically light,” Mondro shares. “The forms allude to ethereal silhouettes associated with shadows, ghosts or decay.”
Though anatomy is an ongoing focus for Mondo, she’s also lent her crocheting abilities to the construction of more mechanical objects, namely the recreation of a Model T engine for the 2011 Love Lace exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum.
Late this year Mondo has an exhibition at Ceres Gallery in New York titled Intertwine, and you can explore more of her work here. (via Bored Panda)

computer hardware
before the emergence of apple’s imac, it is assumed that the aesthetic design of computers was of minimal consideration. through ‘guide to computing’, london-based production studio INK and photographes docubyte prove this theory otherwise by documenting some of the earliest examples of hardware in its purest form. born from a mutual affection for the historical analogue aesthetic, the photographic series sees ten historic computers digitally restored to never-before-seen condition — including famous machines like the IBM 1401 and alan turing’s pilot ACE.

From the BAFTA award-winning studio State of Play comes INKS, an iOS game based around the joy of pinball which allows you to create wondrous works of art by bursting ink across the canvas.
As you play INK the ball smashes along the walls, blocks of colour burst like beautiful fireworks across the surface, building up in vivid layers and recording a visual history of your gameplay as you perfect your score.
Pinball is a great game at its core. INKS extracts that essence, creates a game for everyone and makes it a beautiful experience.
INKS arrives on iOS in May 2016.

Death in Space.

Blaise Cepis’ offbeat portraits mix arousal and body horreur
Imagine the scene: you go on a date, you manage to convince a perfect specimen to come home with you and then, when you’re rummaging in their pants, there’s a knee where their bits should be. Still turned on? It’s this line between erotic and grotesque that New York-based artist Blaise Cepis tentatively treads, creating deformed, yet kinda hot, bodies using collage and photography.
Born in Philadelphia and now based in New York, Blaise studied at Parsons School of Design before working as a freelance creative at Mother and JWT. Adeptly flitting between fashion shoots and his own much weirder work, Blaise mixes glossy, clean portraiture with the mundane depictions of domesticity. His interest in the manipulation of the body has evolved through several phases, from carefully arranging several obliging models to look like the same body to disjointed digital collages and IRL photograph-human mash-ups. Cute blondes with elongated arachnid legs, frilly-robed ladies having it off with shadows and limbs where limbs really shouldn’t be – it’s the stuff of (sexy) nightmares.

» raconte-t-elle à The Creators Project.

Estonian illustrator Eiko Ojala (previously) brings a fantastic sense of depth and texture into his editorial illustrations by using carefully arranged layers of cut paper and shadows. The works are all assembled digitally, but the artist often incorporates his own photos to achieve the desired effect. Seen here are a number of personal artworks, branding projects, and editorial spreads from the last year or so. You can see much more on Behance. (via Contemporary Art Curator)
