Bruce Shapiro (previously) has transformed the tools that create sculpture into the sculpture itself, using CNC machines to produce tables that trace beautiful patterns in thin layers of sand. Shapiro named this kinetic art project Sisyphus, an appropriate title as the metal balls that move through each table’s sand seems to be forever rolling and creating patterns, much like the Greek myth.
Shapiro has been producing the Sisyphus sculptures for almost 20 years, and has permanent installations of his works in Switzerland, Germany, and Australia. Desiring the works to also live in individual homes, he has created aKickstarter to begin production on three different types of smaller, domestic tables: an end table, three-foot metal coffee table, and a four-foot hardwood coffee table.
“Over time I have come to view Sisyphus as more than a kinetic art piece: it is an instrument,” said Shapiro. “As a musical instrument plays songs, Sisyphus plays paths. My goal with this Kickstarter is to get Sisyphus into people’s homes for them to enjoy as both furniture and art, but also, to inspire a community of composers to write ‘music’ for it.”

Deux ans de photos dans un hyperlapse fantastique au dessus de l'Autriche.
La beauté de l’Autriche est dans le contraste. De ces petits villages et de ses imposants chateaux, de ces grandes villes peuplés et de ses sommets désertiques. Tout cela, on le retrouve dans ce magnifique hyperespace réalisé avec 5TB de photos. Une performance impressionnante qui a mérité deux ans de tournages et tout le savoir-faire des photographes Thomas Pöcksteiner et Peter Jablonowski, aka FilmSpektakel.
Je ne sais pas vous, mais moi je joue au ping-pong seulement pendant les vacances.
Pourtant, on oublie que c'est un sport olympique !
Pour attirer de nouveaux adhérents, la fédération internationale de tennis de table vient de mettre au point une version plus simple et plus ludique du "ping-pong" intitulé "TTX". En résumé, c'est un balle légèrement plus grosse, des raquettes plus fines et un système de "sets" qui durent 2 minutes max.
C'est l'agence Brand Union de Singapour qui a réalisé l'identité visuelle. À l'image d'un sport simple et ludique, l'identité se veut fraiche et colorée.

Cette opération plutôt amusante devrait vous plaire. En Angleterre, le collectif Glimpse a lancé une campagne surprenante sur Kickstarter. L’objectif : récolter des fonds pour acheter touts les affichages de la station de métro Clapham Common à Londres. Le but, vous l’avez sûrement déjà compris, est de remplacer toutes ces publicités par des photos de chats.
Au total, ce sont pas moins de 68 emplacements publicitaires qui ont été détournés, à la grande surprise des usagers du métro. Mais ne pensez pas que cette campagne est totalement dénuée de sens. Les photos de chats diffusées proviennent de refuges pour animaux. Le but de cette opération est donc de mettre la publicité que nous subissons au quotidien au second plan, pour soutenir des organisations caritatives en faveur des animaux.
